“And the man bowed down his head, and worshipped the Lord. And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master's brethren.”
Getting married is a life decision. Finding and choosing a life partner is not a joke, it is not an exercise to be carried lightly; it is not a thing to be done in the flesh or from your head. It is a deeply spiritual exercise because it is one decision that will impact you for the rest of your life.
Even though Isaac was not the one that set out to get a wife for Himself, it is worthy to note the process by which Eleazar the chief servant of Abraham went about to get the wife. He made a very strong statement in our text today; he said, "I being in the way, the Lord led me...". If God must lead you to your life partner you must make it easy for Him to lead you in the first place. And that means being in the way, as he said. The only time God can properly lead you to your marital destiny is when you position yourself in the way.
Firstly, Jesus said "I am the Way the Truth and the Life". John 14:6. So when someone says he was in the way, it simply means he was in Jesus. This means they were born again, and regenerated. This talks of a relationship with Jesus. The second meaning of being in the way is that they were in the word of God. Jesus had said He was the way, and He is the word of God Himself according to John 1:1-3. The Holy Spirit cannot lead you when you are doing things contrary to the word of God. You are not eligible for His leading when you are breaking the principles of the word of God. You cannot be cohabiting and expect to be led, you cannot be living in malice and unforgiveness and want to be led. If you are not living in total submission to the word of God, the Holy Spirit will not be interested in leading you. You will be on your own.
Receive grace to be in the way today in Jesus Name.

-Examine all my ways Lord and cause me to walk in your word regardless of what or who is concerned in Jesus Name.
