“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
I thank the Lord who called me into ministry, and I particularly thank Him for finding me worthy to operate in the marriage and relationship ministry. This has afforded me the opportunity to counsel so many people at a premarital and post marital level. And I have seen all manner of marital challenges in the course of this assignment. My conclusion therefore is simple. 95% of marital problems have their roots in the foundation of the marriage.
By foundation I mean, the beginning or early stages of the relationship or marriage. As far as marriage is concerned you cannot claim that the end will be better than the beginning. It is just like a bad builder who refused to dig deep to lay his foundation, and then begins to pray and declare that the building will do well at the end of his construction. That would be pure foolishness. Marriage is equally a building, and how well it fares later is determined by how well it started.
Unfortunately, the most carnal period of people's lives is at the premarital stage of their marriage, that is when they make all the mistakes; that is when they sin the most against God and by so doing break all the laws that govern successful married life in the future. The attendant problems of couples who go into sexual relationship before marriage are insurmountable. The various troubles that follow marital process carried out in dishonour and rush can be annoying. Pay close attention, get it right from the beginning, follow due process, honour God with your relationship, and don’t start making enemies with people because you want to marry. The reason is simple; marriage is for a life time. Take your time and make sure you do it well.
Assignment
i. Do away with any things that threatens your marital future
ii. Endeavour to imbibe practices that will safeguard your marital destiny.
iii. Discontinue and repent of everything you may be involved in right now that will affect you home tomorrow.
Prayer
- Lord, forgive me of every unhealthy practice that has posed a threat to my marital destiny.
- Father, give me the grace to stay clean and healthy for my future marriage in Jesus Name.
Nugget
