Topic: Understanding What You Know [Tuesday April 19, 2016]
…..And Abijah stood upon Zemaraim, which is mount Ephraim, and said, Hear me, thou Jeroboam and all Israel: Ought ye not to know that the Lord God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David forever, even to him and to his sons by covenant of salt?” (II Chro. 13:3-5).
Our text shows us three sterling qualities about our main character, Abijah: He was a confident man, he was a happy man even in the midst of chaos and war lastly, he was a man determined to win. Consequently, these qualities of Abijah were backed by three truths too: firstly, Abijah knewthe covenant of salt, he understood the covenant of salt and he acted on the covenant of salt.Understanding takes knowledge to another level thus no matter what you know, if you do not understand what you think you know, what you know will be of no benefit to you. You cannot implement what you do not understand, even though you know it.
Here is a true-life story: I met a young man who was very sick and thought he was going to die. He kept asking, “Papa am I going to die?” I did not think he was going to die so I got him to confess. “By His stripes I am healed” (Isaiah 53:5, 1Pet. 2:24). I told him to repeat it to himself again and again. After about 20 minutes, the eyes of his understanding were enlightened concerning the scripture he had been chanting, it dawned on him that he was not going to die. Suddenly, his language changed and he began to say, “I am not going to die.”
That made my work easy. He said again, “By His stripes I am healed and I am not going to die!” I said to him, “Now we can pray”, and Praise God he was healed. The young man had knowledge but lacked understanding. More often than not, the thing(s) you are suffering from are because you do not understand what you know. May the Lord invade your mind and begin to give you understanding. Understanding comes from God and through deep meditations on the word of God that you. Look again at that word or promise of God and then stay or dwell on it more. You will receive illumination.

Prayer/confession: Lord, give me understanding into your purpose for my life. Let every veil upon the eyes of my understanding be removed.
Word of wisdom: and you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
