Matthew 10:16 NKJV
“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.”
The dove may be harmless, but the serpent is wise. That is probably why it is one of the most dreaded animals God ever created. People fear the serpent so much they would rather completely leave an environment that is known to habour snakes than to manage it or even plan to kill the snakes by themselves. The reason is because of the wisdom of the serpent. The following can sum up some of the wisdom of the serpent:
1. The serpent never operates in the open
The serpent operates in hiding, it moves under the cover of grasses, in holes and on the top of rocks. The snake is very safety conscious, as poisonous as it is. God wants us to operate the same kind of wisdom. It is the reason why you hardly hear or see snakes dead on the streets or anywhere. A snake can be in your house for years without you knowing. A snake had hidden itself in a person's shoes before after swallowing a rat. But when a man swallows a breakthrough, the whole world must know it. Friend, there is a time to hide.
2. Snakes have very strong and sharp sights
Snakes have the ability to see a prey from very far. They can see so very far away. They can easily see you without you seeing them, and that is how they survive; that is how they catch their prey and eat.
3. Snakes have very strong perceptive abilities
They can sense and detect a prey even when they do not see it. As believers, we do not walk by sight. You may not be able to see all that there is, but you can always discern them. You can perceive things before they come to pass. You can sense opportunities ahead of time, you can receive signals from the realm of the spirit about a coming breakthrough or possible danger.
This kind of living gives you an edge; an advantage over your contemporaries in the unbelieving world.
Be wise in Jesus Name.
