The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
Deuteronomy 28:2
There are two possible states of spiritual existence. They are
existence under an open heaven
existence under a closed heaven.
Open heaven is a spiritual blessing from God that makes the Christian journey profitable. Open heaven is God’s desire for all His children. It is also important for you to know that the state of every man’s heaven is what determines the quality of life he will live.
Open heaven means unlimited access and flow of God’s presence, partnership, power and provision upon a person’s life. Do not allow ignorance make you be satisfied with a closed heaven. In Luke 3:21, the Bible declares that “… when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened”. This tells us that everyone of us is ultimately responsible for the state of heaven above us.
Let’s consider some truths about open heaven:
* Open heaven can be experienced individually or collectively. “And the ark of God remained in the house of Obededom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed him and his entire household” (2 Samuel 6:11 ESV). You can pay the prize for open heaven blessing upon your household.
* Obedient to God’s word will keep a person continually under open heaven. “If they obey and serve Him, they shall spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasures (Job 36:11). Avoid a closed heaven by aligning yourself with God.
* Finally, no matter how dry or closed your heaven has been, when you return to God in repentance and remain with God, heaven above you will be open. You can return to God by confession and repentance. “When heaven is shut, and there is no rain, because they have sinned … if they pray … and confess …, and turn from their sin …” (1 Kings 8:35).
God is more interested in forgiving you than punishing you.
