THE BATTLE OF FOCUS.
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. (Hebrews 12:2-4 KJV)
Welcome to the year 2015 in the Name of The Father, Son and The Holy Ghost. Every single day this year is a day God has already made and each day has been designed to favour you whether the devil likes it or not in Jesus Name.
Let it be known that where your eyes are fixed on determines what and how the year will produce for you. Peter looked at the water and began to drown, David counted the people and lost the people he counted on. The word of God has said that the arm of flesh will fail us, but they that trust in the Lord shall not be removed.
David expounded on Psalm 35:4 that "they looked up to him and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed". I decree that as you look up to God this year you will not only be lightened but you will not see shame in Jesus Name. God exemplified that for us in Jesus, as He made His transition from time back to eternity. Jesus focused on the end of His journey, He kept His eyes on his destiny, He never lost sight of the cross for once. So we are to keep our eyes on Jesus who began our faith and the One who will certainly end it for us. There are a few distractions that you must fight and avoid this year for this to be possible:
i. The distractions of sin.
Especially what is known as besetting sins? Habits that trap you impulsively. I hardly know of any two things that will paralyze you like a besetting sin. Another name for it is secret sins, or dangerous weaknesses. Know yours and fight it.
ii. The distractions of other things that satan and his agents will show you.
The enemy's next strategy is to take your eyes away from the vision that God has showed you. He specializes in distracting you with the good so you can take your eyes away from the best. He can come up with another vision from the one that God showed you, or he may suggest that you add another vision to what you know God gave you for this year. That will create a division in your spirit, or what is called a diversion. It is said that the easiest way to overcome a lion is to fight it with a three legged stool. Since lions are very focused creatures, fighting a three legged stool will really break their focus and weaken them. This is because they will not be able to fight three legs at the same time and stay focused.
iii. The distractions of down playing on the important things.
It is also said that the enemy's major goal is to kill you, and if he fails to kill you, he will try to distract you, and if he fails to distract you he will do everything to slow you down. All he needs to do here is to make important things appear less important. He makes praying less exciting, and then sin begins to look less sinful to you as time goes on. At this stage you will be drastically slowed down and progress will be hampered immediately.
But I see you overcoming every distracting technique of the enemy in Jesus Name. Keep your eyes fixed and focused and you will end this year in style in Jesus Name.
Assignment.
i. Pray against all the above listed forms of enemy distractions.
ii. Strategize against all kinds of weakness in your life. Read about them, learn how to overcome them and then pray and fast against them.
Prayer.
-Lord I receive abundant grace to overcome every kind of enemy’s distractions this year in Jesus Name.
-Father I receive grace from you against the debilitating habits of my life in Jesus Name. No habit will defeat me this year in Jesus Name. Amen!
