HOW TO RUN WITHOUT FAINTING.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:29-31 KJV)
I always have people who knew me several years back ask me about the secret of remaining an impactful Christian until now. They tell me that I have not slowed down at all, they say I am still moving on and waxing stronger by the day. Some congratulate me, others covet the grace and many ask for the secret.
Well one of the secrets of a non-fainting walk and run with God is fasting. Anyone who will survive and last in the faith, anyone who will increase speed when others are falling will have to master the art and act of fasting. To despise fasting is to forfeit destiny, believe me. Our text reveals that God gives power to the faint and increases strength to those who have no might. So whenever you feel weak in the spirit, you are supposed to take up a fast depending on the seriousness of what you feel. The following are a few more secrets to fasting:
A man who fasts has resigned from his natural strength and has plugged into a higher level of power.
You must have heard the biblical phrase "not by might not by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord", Zechariah 4:6. To fast is to declare to God that you cannot make it on your own, and that you have no confidence in the flesh but in God. So when you fast you yield and submit to the Holy Spirit and He takes over much more of you during that period.
Life is a race for long distance runners, and it will take waiting on the Lord to achieve it. A time comes when you get so weary and tired that it will take supernatural strength to keep you going.
Wait on the Lord, make it a regular thing. Do it weekly, at least once a week. Determine a day in the week that you have covenanted to wait on the Lord in a fast. I used to fast three days in a week when I was much younger. I was really so desperate. At least I fast once a week every week of my life.
That is one of the secrets of a faintless journey in God.
