Isaiah 48:17 KJV
“Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.”
The first thing you want to know about today's text is that God is willing and ready to lead us. He sees it as His responsibility to guide us and direct us in the way we should go. The second thing you need to know here is that God's leadings and direction always leads to profit, benefits or success and progress. This means that God wants us to succeed in life; He is interested in our profit.
The real challenge now is not with God but how we can access that direction of God. Whether we know it or not, whether we realize it or not, it must be known that God is daily trying to lead you and direct you to the places and things that will not cause us to suffer loss or pain. We do not have a high priest that is not touched by the feelings of our infirmities. He feels the pain that we feel, he suffered the grief that we suffer, He is sad when we cry. It is for this reason that He seeks to lead and direct us in the paths of righteousness and profit.
Here lies the underlying truth that undergirds everything I have been trying to say. Before you came to this world, your paths were laid out. Where you will be, when you will be there, how you will get there and with whom you will get there was laid down by God. After doing that He gave the Holy Spirit the responsibility of leading you there, should you be willing to let Him do so. That is why our text says He leads us by the way "we should go". These talks of an already determined path, a path called the path of righteousness or rightness according to David in Psalm 23:3.
Assignment
i. Thank God for planning out your life before you were even born.
ii. Thank Him for the enviable future ahead of you.
iii. Ask God for the sensitivity of heart to connect with His leading in your life.
Prayer
-Lord I thank you for the future and the path that leads there.
-Father please endue me with a sensitive spirit to be able to connect to your voice and all the things you do to lead me in the path I should go in Jesus Name.
