Topic: Obedience To Divine Instruction Makes You God’s Friend [Friday June 3, 2016]
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land” (Isaiah 1:19)
The word “obedient” means “to be compliant and submissive to instruction or a person.” When a man diligently pays attention, considers and acts in subservience to the instruction given to him, that man is said to be obedient. The benefit of obedience as Christians can never be over emphasized. The reward for being obedient to instruction is that it creates an avenue for recompense.
What the scripture is saying is that the good of the land are meant for those who were bad yesterday but have changed today. The Almighty God is saying no matter how bad you may be, He wants to give you the good of the land to eat. In other words, the Almighty God created you to be fulfilled. If there is no fulfillment in your life it is because you are not willing to change. No human being is created for bad no matter who you are. When you obey divine instruction, you are bound to become a friend of God. My sincere prayer for you is that God will give you the grace to obey His word so that you can live a fulfilled life.
When the scripture says; “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD…” (Isaiah 1:18a), what God is saying is that He is going to hold you accountable for your deeds. The LORD is saying all you need do is to admit that what you did yesterday is wrong and He will take care of the situation today, no matter how bad. “… though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18d). The above Bible passage is trying to explain that no matter the volume or nature of your sins, whether you are an armed robber or a killer, if you are willing to change your ways, you will become a friend of God and not His enemy. By obedience to divine instruction, you can become a friend of God.
