She is his wife who donated one of her kidneys for him to live in 2013. After the death of OJB, Mabel has spoken about the tragic and untimely demise of her husband. In an interview with The NET on Tuesday, June 14, Mabel who is fondly called Mama J revealed that OJB’s death was sudden. She said she saw him took his final breathe. Talking about his last moments, she said the music producer had been having the normal signs of his kidney disease that morning but this time he was in a lot of pains. “It wasn’t really dramatic, it was just the normal signs we see when he’s about going for his dialysis but this time he was in a lot of pains and I was by his side all through. “His death is all so sudden because we were still speaking about plans for his 50th birthday over the weekend” she added. OJB had a successful transplant in India. But despite the fact that OJB is dead, Mabel disclosed to The NET that she is glad she made that decision three years ago to give her husband one of her kidneys. “I don’t regret it, I did it because I wanted to. I wasn’t forced to do it. After all, he’s my husband, so I don’t regret it” she said.
Sources also claim that OJB didn’t want to go public after his kidney failed last week. He reportedly had plans to sell his Surulere residence for N50 million today to gather more money so he could go for another surgery that would cost close to $150,000. OJB died in the morning of Tuesday, June 14, 2016 after his kidney relapsed two weeks before he died.
