“And he made devices in Jerusalem, invented by skillful men, to be on the towers and the corners, to shoot arrows and large stones. So his fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously helped till he became strong.”
There are two ways to live life - by favour or by labour. There are two ways to succeed in life - by favour or by labour. And there are two ways people pay for things in life - by favour or by labour. On the other hand, labour is fine when your output is commensurate to your input. When your work gives you your expected result then your work is fine. But our text gives us a picture of a man who labours from morning till evening, a man who may not be receiving the proper and expected outcome for all his endeavours.
But there is another picture of labour. It is the kind of labour where your efforts are greatly assisted. It is a situation where your output far exceeds your inputs. That was how Uzziah was greatly and marvelously helped by God.
-To labour alone without favour is to die before your time.
-To Labour without favour is to never finish your task nor accomplish your assignment before you leave this world.
-To labour without favour is to be worn out and to break down.
-To labour without favour is like watering your efforts with your own sweat because the heavens did not give you rain. When a farmer plants, God favours him by assisting him with rain.
-Labour without favour could make you proud and to resist God. People that have enjoyed favour are often very humble and have learnt to give God the credit and glory for their success in life.
So favour is at work when minimal labour produces massive results. I command every unassisted labour in your life to cease in Jesus Name.
Assignment
i. Lift up your hands and thank the Lord for help in all your endeavours.
ii. Promise to give God all the glory when He assists you with favour.
iii. Acknowledge the favours He has shown you so far, no matter how small.
Prayer
-Lord I thank you for your help and favour so far in my life. I do not take them for granted in Jesus Name.
-I thank you in advance for higher levels of favour than I have been used to in Jesus Name.
-I give you all the glory for the present favours and the future favours in advance in Jesus Name.
