Topic: Your Gift Is For Defense 2 [Monday April 18, 2016]
“And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim” (Judges 10:1).
Yesterday, we read of how Abimelech divided Israel but Tola his successor used his gift to defend Israel. A proper and dedicated son/daughter does not need to be told to defend what belongs to him/her or his house. The house of God is yours and as a son/daughter in the house you ought to defend it with your words, actions, attitude; behaviour, and everything within your control just as the adage: “Your mother’s soup always has the best taste”. Do you know that Abimelech reigned for only two years while Tola reigned for twenty three years ? According to Jeremiah 30:16 “… and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil …”. You have a choice to make today whether to be like Abimelech who divided to house of Isreal or Tola who defended the house of Isreal?
In Rev_22:12, Jesus says, “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be”. You must use the gifts God has blessed you with to worship Him and not divide His house. In Rev. 4:10-11, “The four and twenty elders fall down before Him that sat on the throne and worship Him that liveth forever and ever and cast their crowns before the throne saying, You are worthy …”
What the twenty-four elders did here symbolize surrendering their gifts and achievements to God, giving Him all He gave to them, using their gifts, talents and abilities to worship God. They surrendered all on the altar. God gave the twenty-four elders their crowns. When they gave it back to Him, what do you think God did? He blessed the crowns and placed them back on their heads!
Your gift will put food on your table, change your life for better, and take you to your next level in life however If your gift will take you to the next level, it must first and foremost benefit the house. God takes whatever you offer Him, makes it better, then He gives it back to you. (John 6:9-11).
A little boy in the Bible gave Jesus five barley loaves and two small fish, Jesus blessed the five loaves of bread and two fishes and there was an overflow which also got to the boy see (John 6:10-11).

Prayer/confession: Lord, I place my gifts, talents, and abilities on your altar right now. As it benefits your house, let it take me to my next level in life, in Jesus name, Amen!
Word of wisdom: God takes whatever you offer Him, makes it better then He gives it back to you.
