“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless to the coming of our LORD Jesus Christ”
I Thes. 5:23When the bible says God of peace will preserve your spirit, soul and body so that they are blameless. It means He will preserve your spirit, soul and body from getting rotten or decaying. The pertinent question then is: “What is the salt that God will use as a preservative?” here again, salt is the word of God.
One quality of salt is for preservation. To preserve means to protect. Salt protects from decay. Our main text means God will preserve your spirit, soul and body from getting rotten or decay. The pertinent question then is: “What is the salt that God uses as a preservative?” The salt is the word of God.
Psalm 119:11: “Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee”This implies that it is the word of God in your heart that keeps you from decaying not the word in your head.
There are people who can quote the Bible fluently and with ease, yet they are decaying physically and spiritually, they still lives in sins like adultery, fornication, lies and cheating, etc. This is because the word of God is not hidden in their heart but in their head. The problem is not in the size of the Bible but in how much of the word is hidden your heart to preserve you. Once your heart is secure, your life is also secured.
The moment the word of God gets into your heart; your heart will always prick you at the sight of evil. Therefore, it is the word in your heart that preserves you. Once your heart is secure, your life is also secured. If God’s Word cannot touch your heart, He cannot touch your life. If you, a child of God, is like everybody else, the salt of God’s Word is still in your head only. Otherwise, the moment the word of God gets into your heart; your heart will always prick you at the sight of evil.
