Topic: Serve In Your Place [Thursday April 14, 2016]
“Is not Aaron the Levite, thy brother? … And thou shall speak to him and put words in his mouth … And he shall be thy spokesman to the people….thou shall be to him a God”
(
Exodus 4:14-16)
The destiny of Aaron was tied to that of Moses that was why God did not heal Moses of his stammering tongue but rather made Aaron his spokesman and servant. The truth is that God did not give Aaron to the people but to Moses. God intended that wherever Moses was mentioned, Aaron’s name would automatically be mentioned too. However, If you do not understand the purpose why God has made you whom you are or placed you where you are today, you will miss out the ultimate plan of God for your life.
Sadly, Aaron did not realize nor comprehend why God created him and gave him to Moses thus, his sister Marian took advantage of his ignorance and talked him into challenging Moses. She must have said something like this to him: “Aaron, you are older than Moses, without your voice he cannot talk. What nonsense! Join me to challenge him and let us curtail all his excesses”, he betrayed Moses (
Exodus 32:2-35; Num. 12:1-2).
A man who was created to help Moses became the leader of the opposition group. Many times, people get carried away by their positions in life; they feel because they have attained certain heights and qualifications, they are no longer subject to the authority God has placed over them. Aaron forgot that he was not a gift to the people but to Moses. Consequently, God stood for Moses, the rebellion failed. Not surprising, in Hebrews chapter 11 (the hall of fame of faith) where all the great people in the Old and New Testaments are recorded, Aaron (the first High-priest of Israel) was conspicuously omitted.
Even Rahab a harlot was mentioned. Why? It is because he was a foolish old man who did not realize that God created him to enhance Moses’ ministry. God intended that wherever Moses was mentioned, Aaron’s name would automatically be mentioned also. The destiny of Aaron was tied to that of Moses. That is why God did not heal Moses of his deficiency in speech but made Aaron his spokesman and servant.
My prayer for you as you read this Devotional is: “May you not misuse the gift that God has given to you in Jesus name.” Are you a helper to the vision of the house?
