
Topic: The Promise And The Pleasure
“For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.” (
Hebrews 11:10)
Pleasure can be described as a distraction when put against the promise of God; there are so many pleasures in the world that can distract you from taking your place in heaven. I have been preaching for over 40 years and I can categorically tell you that one easy way to get distracted from achieving your heavenly promise is by paying attention to the pleasures of life. One day, as I watched a young
girl on television share her story of how she was about to be taken to hell after living a rough life of drugs and fornication but was given a chance to live again, it stirred me up and I said to myself Lord I don’t want to go down there to hell, I want to go that city, called the city of God.
Let this teaching today stir or awake in you the consciousness to serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For the Bible says “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind”. If nothing shakes you up to the consciousness that the city of God is paramount then something is wrong with you. As you read this devotional don’t let someone else take your place. Let your prayer be that Jesus will keep your place, keep your mansion in that city whose maker and builder is God.
Do you have a place in heaven? If God gives you a place then hold on to it, hold on to your place let no man take it from you. That city is made for you, turn your back on the evil of this world and embrace the kingdom of God. That why the Bible says“seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness….” The Bible in saying in other words, that you seek first the kingdom of God, that city whose maker, creator is God, let it be your desire to want and crave for that city and you shall receive the promise of God.
Prayer/Confession: Father in the name of Jesus, I seek for the city whose maker is God, heaven is my home. I declare today I shall not wander here on earth from the divine promise of God, I refuse to be distracted by the pleasures of this world.
