If there's one thing we love about FOX's new drama, Empire — you know, beyond the awesome music, all-star leads, and addicting plotlines — it's the new eye candy it's introduced us to in the form of the three Lyon brothers: Andre, Jamal, and Hakeem. We must admit that Hakeem especially caught our eye with his bad-boy swagger in the pilot. But who exactly is the actor who plays him, Bryshere Gray, AKA Yazz the Greatest?
For those of you wanting to get to know the hot young star of Empire a little better, here are five must-know facts about him.
1. This is his first acting role. While all three Lyon brothers are relative unknowns, Bryshere is the only true newbie to the acting scene. Empire marks his first-ever screen credit on IMDB, making his instant screen-presence even more impressive.
2. He has a background in music. He may be new to acting, but all you need to do is listen to one of his Empire performances to realize Bryshere, who also goes by Yazz the Greatest, is no stranger to music. Indeed, he's performed at events like Jay-Z's 2013 Man in America Festival, Sunoco's Welcome America 4th of July Celebration, and the annual Roots Picnic Festival, and he's opened for Fabolous and 2 Chainz in the past.
3. He's from Philly. Bryshere is from Philadelphia, which just so happens to be the city his on-screen dad hails from in Empire.
